The Newport Cubs basketball team (Newport, OR), was overwhelmed 54-31 in Tuesday's league battle with the visiting Cascade Cougars (Turner, OR)
The Cougars now possess a 8-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host Philomath for a 4A Oregon West battle on Thursday, February 2. Cascade will battle a Warriors team coming off a 38-30 league win over Stayton (Stayton, OR). The Warriors record now stands at 10-5.
The Cubs (9-8) will now prepare for their battle against North Marion (Aurora, OR). The Huskies enter the 4A Oregon West contest with a 5-13 record. In their last contest, North Marion triumphed over Sweet Home (Sweet Home, OR), 54-38, in a league contest.
