Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Mountain Heritage Cougars (Burnsville, NC), 49-36 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Mitchell upgrades its record to 14-3 on the season. The Mountaineers travel to Avery County (Newland, NC) to play the Vikings in a bout on Tuesday, February 7. The Vikings go into the bout with a record of 11-6.

Next up, the Cougars play the Madison Patriots (Marshall, NC) in a non-league bout, on Friday, February 3. Mountain Heritage will attempt to upgrade on its 10-5 season record. The Patriots go into the bout with a 0-18 record after their 50-23 non-league loss to North Buncombe (Weaverville, NC).
