Fans at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the James Monroe Mavericks (Lindside, WV) and the visiting Summers County Bobcats (Hinton, WV), saw James Monroe's basketball squad hold off Summers County by a tally of 51-45.
With the victory, James Monroe improves its record to 9-2 on the campaign. The Mavericks host Greater Beckley Christian (Prosperity, WV) to confront the Crusaders in a Coalfield A challenge on Friday, February 2. The Crusaders come into the battle with a record of 10-4. Greater Beckley Christian won 63-30 in their recent league battle against Mount View (Welch, WV)
The Bobcats (6-6) will now prepare for their battle against Meadow Bridge (Meadow Bridge, WV). The Wildcats come into the non-league battle with a 3-9 record. In their last battle, Meadow Bridge edged Ohio Valley Christian (Gallipolis, OH), 55-42, in a non-league battle.
