In Wednesday's non-league outing, the George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) basketball squad edged the visiting Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA), by a count of 45-38.

The Maroons (15-1) will now prepare for their outing against Eastern Montgomery (Elliston, VA). The Mustangs go into the non-league outing with a 10-7 record. In their last outing, Eastern Montgomery held off Craig County (New Castle, VA), 39-11, in a non-league outing.

The Spartans now hold a 13-4 record. They play next when they host Fort Chiswell for a non-league outing on Friday, February 2. Giles will clash with a Pioneers squad coming off a 39-35 non-league win over Galax (Galax, VA). The Pioneers record now stands at 15-3.
