The Grants Pirates got by the host Belen Eagles basketball squad by a final score of 64-61 in Friday's league outing.
Next, the Pirates clash with the Wingate Bears (Fort Wingate, NM) in a non-league outing, on Saturday, February 1. Grants will attempt to upgrade on its 11-9 season record. The Bears come into the outing with a 7-11 record after their 65-58 league loss to Thoreau (Thoreau, NM).
The Eagles (9-11) will now prepare for their outing against Valencia (Los Lunas, NM). The Jaguars come into the 4A District 5 outing with a 8-12 record. In their last outing, Valencia was nipped by Highland (Albuquerque, NM), 68-66, in a league outing.
