The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Halifax County Comets (South Boston, VA) and the visiting George Washington Eagles (Danville, VA), observed Halifax County's basketball team edge George Washington by a score of 58-52.

The Comets (10-8) will now prepare for their challenge against Liberty (Bedford, VA). The Minutemen come into the non-league challenge with a 4-11 record. In their last challenge, Liberty edged Brookville (Lynchburg, VA), 78-48, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Eagles battle the Mecklenburg County Phoenix (Baskerville, VA) in a Piedmont challenge, on Saturday, February 1. George Washington will attempt to improve on its 15-2 season record. The Phoenix come into the challenge with a 7-4 record after their 62-61 league win over Halifax County (South Boston, VA).
