Virginia High School Basketball - Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy routed by New Covenant

New Covenant Gryphons (Lynchburg, VA) supporters left the game satisfied Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad triumph over the visiting Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys (Moneta, VA), 67-45 in a non-league match.

With the victory, New Covenant advances its record to 15-6 on the year. The Gryphons travel to Roanoke Catholic (Roanoke, VA) to face the Celtics in a Virginia Independent match on Tuesday, February 4. The Celtics enter the match with a record of 16-8. Roanoke Catholic won 90-45 in their recent non-league match against Roanoke Valley Christian (Roanoke, VA)

The Ospreys now own a 12-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Timberlake Christian for a Virginia Christian - Southeast match on Monday, February 3. Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy will face a Tornadoes squad coming off a 42-31 league loss to Temple Christian (Madison Heights, VA). The Tornadoes record now stands at 5-9.
