The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the La Vega Pirates (Waco, TX) and the host Connally Cadets (Waco, TX), observed La Vega's basketball team overwhelm Connally by a margin of 57-30.

The Pirates (26-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Lorena (Lorena, TX). The Leopards come into the 4A Region III District 23 challenge with a 24-8 record. In their last challenge, Lorena trounced China Spring (China Spring, TX), 39-32, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Cadets battle the Gatesville Hornets (Gatesville, TX) in a 4A Region III District 23 challenge, on Tuesday, February 4. Connally will attempt to better on its 7-24 season record. The Hornets come into the challenge with a 15-16 record after their 35-33 league win over Robinson (Robinson, TX).
