North Carolina High School Basketball - Douglas Byrd can't hold off Gray's Creek

Gray's Creek Bears (Hope Mills, NC) supporters left the game satisfied Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad nudge the host Douglas Byrd Eagles (Fayetteville, NC), 43-37 in a league match.

With the victory, Gray's Creek advances its record to 9-7 on the year. The Bears host Purnell Swett (Pembroke, NC) to face the Rams in a 3A/4A United 8 match on Saturday, February 1. The Rams enter the match with a record of 3-13. Purnell Swett lost 73-38 in their recent league match against Lumberton (Lumberton, NC)

The Eagles now own a 7-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Cape Fear for a 3A/4A United 8 match on Tuesday, February 4. Douglas Byrd will face a Colts squad coming off a 51-42 league loss to Seventy-First (Fayetteville, NC). The Colts record now stands at 7-8.
