The Goretti Gael (Hagerstown, MD) basketball nipped the host Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers (Severn, MD), 53-48 in Wednesday's league test.
The Gael (13-2) will now prepare for their test against Jefferson (Shenandoah Junction, WV). The Cougars go into the non-league test with a 4-2 record. In their last test, Jefferson got by Martinsburg (Martinsburg, WV), 89-73, in a league test.
The Cavaliers now own a 5-6 record. They play next when they travel to McDonogh for a non-league test on Friday, January 6. Archbishop Spalding will encounter a Eagles squad coming off a 58-57 non-league win over Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Baltimore, MD). The Eagles record now stands at 10-4.
