The Cumberland Dukes (Cumberland, VA) basketball nipped the host Amelia County Raiders (Amelia Court House, VA), 44-41 in Wednesday's league test.
The Dukes (7-1) will now prepare for their test against Randolph-Henry (Charlotte Court House, VA). The Statesmen go into the James River test with a 0-8 record. In their last test, Randolph-Henry was tipped by Fuqua (Farmville, VA), 33-20, in a non-league test.
The Raiders now own a 3-4 record. They play next when they host Buckingham for a James River test on Friday, January 6. Amelia County will encounter a Knights squad coming off a 64-42 league win over Nottoway (Nottoway, VA). The Knights record now stands at 5-3.
