North Carolina High School Basketball - Shelby over Bessemer City

Fans at Wednesday's league challenge between the Shelby Golden Lions (Shelby, NC) and the host Bessemer City Yellow Jackets (Bessemer City, NC), saw Shelby's basketball squad overcome Bessemer City by a tally of 55-42.

With the victory, Shelby improves its record to 8-1 on the campaign. The Golden Lions travel to Highland Tech (Gastonia, NC) to confront the Rams in a 1A/2A Conference 40 challenge on Friday, January 6. The Rams come into the challenge with a record of 3-8. Highland Tech won 48-22 in their recent non-league challenge against Cherryville (Cherryville, NC)

Next up, the Yellow Jackets confront the Cherryville Ironmen (Cherryville, NC) in a 1A/2A Conference 40 challenge, on Friday, January 6. Bessemer City will attempt to improve on its 9-4 season record. The Ironmen come into the challenge with a 2-10 record after their 47-46 league loss to East Gaston (Mt. Holly, NC).
