The Mitchell Mountaineers basketball team scored 35 points and restricted the visiting North Buncombe Black Hawks to 30 in the Mountaineers non-league victory on Wednesday.

The Mountaineers now sport a 8-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Mountain Heritage for a non-league contest on Friday, January 6. Mitchell will battle a Cougars team coming off a 47-30 league loss to Avery County (Newland, NC). The Cougars record now stands at 4-4.

The Black Hawks (6-3) will now prepare for their contest against Enka (Enka, NC). The Jets come into the non-league contest with a 3-5 record. In their last contest, Enka edged West Henderson (Hendersonville, NC), 48-40, in a non-league contest.
