Horseshoe Bend Generals (New Site, AL) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Beauregard Hornets (Opelika, AL), 60-43 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Horseshoe Bend upgrades its record to 9-5 on the season. The Generals travel to Reeltown (Notasulga, AL) to play the Rebels in a 2A Area 6 bout on Friday, January 5. The Rebels go into the bout with a record of 1-0. Reeltown won 51-35 in their recent non-league bout against Holtville (Deatsville, AL)

Next up, the Hornets play the Notasulga Blue Devils (Notasulga, AL) in a non-league bout, on Friday, January 5. Beauregard will attempt to upgrade on its 6-2 season record. The Blue Devils go into the bout with a 5-8 record after their 53-36 league win over Billingsley (Billingsley, AL).
