The Excel Panthers (Excel, AL) basketball nipped the visiting W.S. Neal Eagles (East Brewton, AL), 47-45 in Thursday's non-league test.
The Panthers (7-1) will now prepare for their test against Thomasville (Thomasville, AL). The Tigers go into the 3A Area 5 test with a 3-13 record. In their last test, Thomasville was tipped by Sumter Central (York, AL), 89-19, in a non-league test.
The Eagles now own a 4-8 record. They play next when they travel to Hillcrest for a 3A Area 2 test on Tuesday, January 9. W.S. Neal will encounter a Jaguars squad coming off a 52-44 non-league loss to Jackson (Jackson, AL). The Jaguars record now stands at 15-4.
