Mellen Granite Diggers (Mellen, WI) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Lac Courte Oreilles Eagles (Hayward, WI), 69-30 in a league bout.

With the win, Mellen upgrades its record to 3-6 on the season. The Granite Diggers travel to Bayfield (Bayfield, WI) to play the Trollers in a Northern Lights bout on Monday, January 8. The Trollers go into the bout with a record of 2-6. Bayfield lost 80-51 in their recent league bout against Washburn (Washburn, WI)

Next up, the Eagles play the Mercer Tigers (Mercer, WI) in a Northern Lights bout, on Friday, January 5. Lac Courte Oreilles will attempt to upgrade on its 1-9 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 1-6 record after their 83-31 league loss to Hurley (Hurley, WI).
