Pope John Paul II Knights (Hendersonville, TN) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Montgomery Bell Academy Big Red (Nashville, TN), 68-62 in a league bout.

With the victory, Pope John Paul II upgrades its record to 13-2 on the campaign. The Knights host Brentwood Academy (Brentwood, TN) to play the Eagles in a Division II-AA Middle bout on Saturday, January 6. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 11-4. Brentwood Academy won 52-41 in their recent league bout against Ensworth (Nashville, TN)

Next up, the Big Red play the Christ Presbyterian Academy Lions (Nashville, TN) in a Division II-AA Middle bout, on Saturday, January 6. Montgomery Bell Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 4-3 season record. The Lions come into the bout with a 5-7 record after their 65-49 non-league loss to Lipscomb Academy (Nashville, TN).
