McGehee Hawks (New Orleans, LA) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Thomas Jefferson (Gretna, LA), 61-20 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, McGehee upgrades its record to 5-3 on the campaign. The Hawks travel to St. Katharine Drexel (New Orleans, LA) to play the Yellowjackets in a 1A District 10 bout on Friday, January 5. The Yellowjackets come into the bout with a record of 2-6. St. Katharine Drexel lost 52-28 in their recent non-league bout against Warren Easton (New Orleans, LA)

Next up, the play the L.W. Higgins Hurricanes (Marrero, LA) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 10. Thomas Jefferson will attempt to upgrade on its 1-5 season record. The Hurricanes come into the bout with a 11-4 record after their 48-14 non-league loss to Frederick A. Douglass (New Orleans, LA).
