St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors (Downey, CA) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Sacred Heart of Jesus Comets (Los Angeles, CA), 51-46 in a league bout.

With the victory, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy upgrades its record to 10-9 on the campaign. The Warriors travel to Santa Monica (Santa Monica, CA) to play the Vikings in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 6. The Vikings come into the bout with a record of 4-12. Santa Monica lost 49-45 in their recent league bout against Peninsula (Rolling Hills Estates, CA)

Next up, the Comets play the Pomona Catholic Pacers (Pomona, CA) in a Santa Fe bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Sacred Heart of Jesus will attempt to upgrade on its 4-10 season record. The Pacers come into the bout with a 3-8 record after their 35-33 league win over San Gabriel Mission (San Gabriel, CA).
