The crowd at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Mingo Central Miners (Matewan, WV) and the host Summers County Bobcats (Hinton, WV), observed Mingo Central's basketball team edge Summers County by a score of 54-49.

The Miners (6-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Mount View (Welch, WV). The Golden Knights come into the non-league challenge with a 1-4 record. In their last challenge, Mount View was tipped by Mingo Central (Matewan, WV), 67-33, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Bobcats encounter the Greenbrier West Cavaliers (Charmco, WV) in a Coalfield A challenge, on Tuesday, January 7. Summers County will attempt to improve on its 6-3 season record.
