Winona Christian Stars (Winona, MS) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting St. Joseph Fighting Irish (Greenville, MS), 62-43 in a league bout.

With the win, Winona Christian upgrades its record to 2-0 on the season. The Stars travel to St. Joseph (Greenville, MS) to play the Fighting Irish in a MAIS 4A District 2 bout on Friday, January 20. The Fighting Irish go into the bout with a record of 6-1.

Next up, the Fighting Irish play the Central Holmes Christian Trojans (Lexington, MS) in a MAIS 4A District 2 bout, on Friday, January 6. St. Joseph will attempt to upgrade on its 6-1 season record. The Trojans go into the bout with a 1-1 record after their 62-60 non-league win over Tri-County Academy (Flora, MS).
