Valwood Valiants (Valdosta, GA) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Echols County Wildcats (Statenville, GA), 60-43 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Valwood upgrades its record to 3-3 on the campaign. The Valiants host Southland Academy (Americus, GA) to play the Raiders in a GIAA AAAA/AAA District 3 bout on Friday, January 6. The Raiders come into the bout with a record of 11-1. Southland Academy lost 41-36 in their recent non-league bout against Southwest Georgia Academy (Damascus, GA)

Next up, the Wildcats play the Westwood Wildcats (Camilla, GA) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 7. Echols County will attempt to upgrade on its 3-7 season record. The Wildcats come into the bout with a 2-8 record after their 38-33 non-league loss to Brookwood (Thomasville, GA).
