Gilbert Classical Academy Spartans (Gilbert, AZ) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Lincoln Prep Lightning (Chandler, AZ), 27-25 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Gilbert Classical Academy upgrades its record to 6-4 on the season. The Spartans travel to Miami (Miami, AZ) to play the Vandals in a 2A Valley bout on Friday, January 6. The Vandals go into the bout with a record of 9-6. Miami lost 56-46 in their recent league bout against San Carlos (San Carlos, AZ)

Next up, the Lightning play the Cicero Prep Academy Centurions (Scottsdale, AZ) in a 1A East bout, on Saturday, January 7. Lincoln Prep will attempt to upgrade on its 9-6 season record. The Centurions go into the bout with a 0-8 record after their 67-9 league loss to Valley Lutheran (Phoenix, AZ).
