Mount St. Mary Academy Lions (Watchung, NJ) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting The Pingry School Big Blue (Martinsville, NJ), 47-44 in a league bout.

With the victory, Mount St. Mary Academy upgrades its record to 5-3 on the campaign. The Lions host Voorhees (Glen Gardner, NJ) to play the Vikings in a Skyland - Valley bout on Tuesday, January 10. The Vikings come into the bout with a record of 6-1. Voorhees won 45-27 in their recent non-league bout against Montgomery (Skillman, NJ)

Next up, the Big Blue play the Columbia Cougars (Maplewood, NJ) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 7. The Pingry School will attempt to upgrade on its 2-4 season record. The Cougars come into the bout with a 3-4 record after their 63-25 league loss to Immaculate Conception (Lodi, NJ).
