The Excel Christian Academy Spartans basketball team scored 72 points and held the visiting McLaughlin Phoenix to 47 in the Spartans non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Spartans now sport a 2-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Winter Haven Christian for a contest on Friday, January 6. Excel Christian Academy will meet a Warriors team coming off a 49-27 league loss to Geneva Classical Academy (Lakeland, FL). The Warriors record now stands at 2-4.

The Phoenix (1-4) will now prepare for their contest against Ridgeview Global Studies Academy (Davenport, FL). The Explorers enter the contest with a 0-7 record. In their last contest, Ridgeview Global Studies Academy was routed by Four Corners (Davenport, FL), 39-32, in a league contest.
