The Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets basketball team scored 56 points and restricted the visiting Ashland Arrows to 49 in the Yellowjackets league victory on Friday.

The Yellowjackets now sport a 6-4 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Newark for a non-league contest on Saturday, January 6. Mt. Vernon will battle a Wildcats team coming off a 57-29 league win over Central Crossing (Grove City, OH). The Wildcats record now stands at 8-1.

The Arrows (3-7) will now prepare for their contest against Shelby (Shelby, OH). The Whippets come into the non-league contest with a 6-2 record. In their last contest, Shelby was nudged by Lexington (Lexington, OH), 61-57, in a non-league contest.
