The Union County Panthers basketball team scored 81 points and held the visiting Athens Academy Spartans to 71 in the Panthers league triumph on Friday.

The Panthers now sport a 14-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Banks County for a AA Region 8 contest on Tuesday, January 9. Union County will battle a Leopards team coming off a 67-47 non-league win over Prince Avenue Christian (Athens, GA). The Leopards record now stands at 11-6.

The Spartans (11-3) will now prepare for their contest against Providence Christian Academy (Lilburn, GA). The Storm enter the AA Region 8 contest with a 10-6 record. In their last contest, Providence Christian Academy ran past East Jackson (Commerce, GA), 72-64, in a league contest.
