The Catholic Central Cougars (Grand Rapids, MI) basketball nipped the host South Christian Sailors (Grand Rapids, MI), 57-54 in Friday's league test.

The Cougars (2-3) will now prepare for their test against Thornapple Kellogg (Middleville, MI). The Trojans go into the Ottawa-Kent - Gold test with a 5-4 record. In their last test, Thornapple Kellogg got by Forest Hills Eastern (Ada, MI), 48-44, in a league test.

The Sailors now own a 5-3 record. They play next when they host Forest Hills Eastern for a Ottawa-Kent - Gold test on Tuesday, January 9. South Christian will encounter a Hawks squad coming off a 48-44 league loss to Thornapple Kellogg (Middleville, MI). The Hawks record now stands at 4-5.
