Sumrall Bobcats (Sumrall, MS) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Columbia Wildcats (Columbia, MS), 47-34 in a league bout.

With the win, Sumrall upgrades its record to 13-3 on the season. The Bobcats travel to Lawrence County (Monticello, MS) to play the Cougars in a 4A Region 7 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 6-12. Lawrence County won 45-39 in their recent league bout against Forrest County Agricultural (Brooklyn, MS)

Next up, the Wildcats play the Purvis Tornadoes (Purvis, MS) in a 4A Region 7 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Columbia will attempt to upgrade on its 8-7 season record. The Tornadoes go into the bout with a 9-3 record after their 66-63 non-league loss to Collins (Collins, MS).
