Cushing Bearkats (Cushing, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting New Summerfield Hornets (New Summerfield, TX), 59-8 in a league bout.

With the win, Cushing upgrades its record to 15-7 on the season. The Bearkats travel to Overton (Overton, TX) to play the Mustangs in a 2A Region III District 22 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Mustangs go into the bout with a record of 16-2. Overton won 55-45 in their recent league bout against Mt. Enterprise (Mt. Enterprise, TX)

Next up, the Hornets play the Carlisle Indians (Price, TX) in a 2A Region III District 22 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. New Summerfield will attempt to upgrade on its 3-17 season record. The Indians go into the bout with a 5-3 record after their 44-36 league loss to Cushing (Cushing, TX).
