Goretti Gael (Hagerstown, MD) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars (Baltimore, MD), 70-68 in a league bout.

With the win, Goretti upgrades its record to 7-6 on the season. The Gael host Frederick (Frederick, MD) to clash with the Cadets in a non-league bout on Friday, January 12. The Cadets go into the bout with a record of 9-3. Frederick lost 51-49 in their recent league bout against Urbana (Ijamsville, MD)

Next up, the Cougars clash with the New Town (Owings Mills, MD) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 6. Our Lady of Mount Carmel will attempt to upgrade on its 11-5 season record. The go into the bout with a 4-5 record after their 55-47 league win over Eastern Tech (Baltimore, MD).
