The Vermilion Catholic Eagles (Abbeville, LA) basketball nipped the host Highland Baptist Christian Bears (New Iberia, LA), 54-49 in Friday's league test.

The Eagles (7-3) will now prepare for their test against Vandebilt Catholic (Houma, LA). The Terriers go into the non-league test with a 15-2 record. In their last test, Vandebilt Catholic got by St. Charles Catholic (LaPlace, LA), 59-53, in a non-league test.

The Bears now own a 6-11 record. They play next when they travel to Covenant Christian Academy for a 1A District 7 test on Friday, January 12.
