Lumberton Panthers (Lumberton, MS) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Salem Wildcats (Tylertown, MS), 54-38 in a league bout.

With the win, Lumberton upgrades its record to 1-8 on the season. The Panthers travel to Resurrection Catholic (Pascagoula, MS) to play the Eagles in a 1A Region 8 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 3-3.

Next up, the Wildcats play the Sacred Heart Crusaders (Hattiesburg, MS) in a 1A Region 8 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Salem will attempt to move on its 0-11 season record. The Crusaders enter the game with a 6-9 record after their 54-50 league loss to Enterprise (Brookhaven, MS).
