Mars Fightin' Planets (Mars, PA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the host West Allegheny Indians (Imperial, PA), 72-42 in a league bout.

With the victory, Mars upgrades its record to 7-4 on the campaign. The Fightin' Planets host South Fayette (McDonald, PA) to play the Lions in a WPIAL 5A 4 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Lions come into the bout with a record of 4-6. South Fayette lost 66-62 in their recent non-league bout against Knoch (Saxonburg, PA)

The Indians (5-3) will now prepare for their battle against Burgettstown (Burgettstown, PA). The Blue Devils come into the non-league battle with a 10-2 record. In their last battle, Burgettstown trounced Bethlehem Center (Fredericktown, PA), 63-50, in a league battle.
