McGehee Owls (McGehee, AR) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Smackover Buckaroos (Smackover, AR), 78-59 in a league bout.

With the win, McGehee upgrades its record to 14-3 on the season. The Owls travel to Drew Central (Monticello, AR) to play the Pirates in a 3A Region 8 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Pirates go into the bout with a record of 9-8. Drew Central lost 57-34 in their recent league bout against Dumas (Dumas, AR)

Next up, the Buckaroos play the Harmony Grove Hornets (Camden, AR) in a 3A Region 8 bout, on Friday, January 12. Smackover will attempt to upgrade on its 7-8 season record.
