The Meridian Wildcats basketball team scored 58 points and held the visiting Pearl Pirates to 36 in the Wildcats league triumph on Friday.

The Wildcats now sport a 10-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Pascagoula for a non-league contest on Saturday, January 6. Meridian will battle a Panthers team coming off a 67-65 non-league win over Canton (Canton, MS). The Panthers record now stands at 14-1.

The Pirates (13-6) will now prepare for their contest against Northwest Rankin (Brandon, MS). The Cougars enter the 7A Region 3 contest with a 5-13 record. In their last contest, Northwest Rankin was routed by Brandon (Brandon, MS), 48-46, in a league contest.
