The Newell Irrigators basketball team (Newell, SD), was nudged 49-43 in Friday's league battle with the host Tiospaye Topa Thunderhawks (Ridgeview, SD)
The Thunderhawks now possess a 2-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Bison for a B Region 8 battle on Tuesday, January 9. Tiospaye Topa will battle a Cardinals team coming off a 70-27 non-league loss to Carter County (Ekalaka, MT). The Cardinals record now stands at 0-5.
The Irrigators (2-6) will now prepare for their battle against New Underwood (New Underwood, SD). The Tigers come into the non-league battle with a 3-1 record. In their last battle, New Underwood edged Lead-Deadwood (Lead, SD), 60-54, in a non-league battle.
