Smithville Seminoles (Smithville, MS) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Vardaman Rams (Vardaman, MS), 63-54 in a league bout.

With the win, Smithville upgrades its record to 5-5 on the season. The Seminoles host Belmont (Belmont, MS) to play the Cardinals in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 6. The Cardinals go into the bout with a record of 11-5. Belmont won 54-35 in their recent league bout against Mantachie (Mantachie, MS)

Next up, the Rams play the Houston Hilltoppers (Houston, MS) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 6. Vardaman will attempt to upgrade on its 5-9 season record. The Hilltoppers go into the bout with a 4-13 record after their 73-46 league loss to Greenwood (Greenwood, MS).
