Whitman Vikings (Bethesda, MD) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Walter Johnson Wildcats (Bethesda, MD), 85-76 in a league bout.

With the win, Whitman upgrades its record to 8-2 on the season. The Vikings host Wootton (Rockville, MD) to play the Patriots in a Montgomery 4A/3A Central bout on Monday, January 8. The Patriots go into the bout with a record of 7-3. Wootton won 59-47 in their recent league bout against Bethesda-Chevy Chase (Bethesda, MD)

Next up, the Wildcats play the Northwood Gladiators (Silver Spring, MD) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 8. Walter Johnson will attempt to upgrade on its 4-5 season record. The Gladiators go into the bout with a 3-6 record after their 59-53 non-league win over Blair (Silver Spring, MD).
