St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots (Alameda, CA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting San Leandro Pirates (San Leandro, CA), 42-40 in a league bout.

With the victory, St. Joseph Notre Dame upgrades its record to 5-1 on the campaign. The Pilots host Castro Valley (Castro Valley, CA) to play the Trojans in a bout on Thursday, January 11. The Trojans come into the bout with a record of 2-2. Castro Valley lost 57-31 in their recent league bout against Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland, CA)

Next up, the Pirates play the Berkeley Yellowjackets (Berkeley, CA) in a bout, on Wednesday, January 10. San Leandro will attempt to upgrade on its 3-3 season record. The Yellowjackets come into the bout with a 6-1 record after their 55-46 league win over Piedmont (Piedmont, CA).
