The Athens Academy Spartans basketball team (Athens, GA), was routed 60-37 in Friday's league battle with the host Union County Panthers (Blairsville, GA)
The Panthers now sport a 9-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Banks County for a AA Region 8 battle on Tuesday, January 9. Union County will battle a Leopards team coming off a 60-34 non-league win over Prince Avenue Christian (Athens, GA). The Leopards record now stands at 12-4.
The Spartans (8-7) will now prepare for their battle against Providence Christian Academy (Lilburn, GA). The Storm come into the AA Region 8 battle with a 11-2 record. In their last battle, Providence Christian Academy trounced East Jackson (Commerce, GA), 61-44, in a league battle.
