England Lions (England, AR) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Bigelow Panthers (Bigelow, AR), 58-55 in a league bout.

With the win, England upgrades its record to 10-8 on the season. The Lions host St. Joseph (Conway, AR) to clash with the Bulldogs in a 2A Region 5 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 7-7.

Next up, the Panthers clash with the Poyen Indians (Poyen, AR) in a 2A Region 5 bout, on Monday, January 8. Bigelow will attempt to upgrade on its 9-9 season record. The Indians go into the bout with a 10-7 record after their 45-39 league loss to St. Joseph (Conway, AR).
