Boaz Pirates (Boaz, AL) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Douglas Eagles (Douglas, AL), 39-21 in a league bout.

With the win, Boaz upgrades its record to 12-8 on the season. The Pirates travel to Madison Academy (Madison, AL) to play the Mustangs in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 6. The Mustangs go into the bout with a record of 9-8. Madison Academy won 55-52 in their recent league bout against Ardmore (Ardmore, AL)

Next up, the Eagles play the Sardis Lions (Boaz, AL) in a 5A Area 13 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Douglas will attempt to upgrade on its 3-15 season record. The Lions go into the bout with a 14-6 record after their 69-20 league win over Crossville (Crossville, AL).
