In Friday's league match, the host West Tallahatchie Choctaws basketball team scored a tight 44-42 triumph over the Leland Cubs.

In their next game, the Choctaws meet the Shaw Warriors (Shaw, MS) in a 1A Region 5 match, on Tuesday, January 9. West Tallahatchie will attempt to move on its 5-7 season record. The Warriors enter the match with a 9-7 record after their 60-26 league win over West Bolivar (Rosedale, MS).
