Madisonville Mustangs (Madisonville, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Rusk Eagles (Rusk, TX), 66-36 in a league bout.

With the win, Madisonville upgrades its record to 18-4 on the season. The Mustangs host Palestine (Palestine, TX) to clash with the Wildcats in a 4A Region III District 18 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Wildcats go into the bout with a record of 6-17. Palestine lost 51-41 in their recent league bout against Bullard (Bullard, TX)

Next up, the Eagles clash with the Jacksonville Fightin' Indians (Jacksonville, TX) in a 4A Region III District 18 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Rusk will attempt to upgrade on its 7-13 season record. The Fightin' Indians go into the bout with a 18-8 record after their 69-16 league win over Hudson (Lufkin, TX).
