McDowell Titans (Marion, NC) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC), 59-34 in a non-league bout.

With the win, McDowell upgrades its record to 10-2 on the season. The Titans host North Buncombe (Weaverville, NC) to play the Black Hawks in a 3A/4A Mountain bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Black Hawks go into the bout with a record of 9-2. North Buncombe won 46-23 in their recent league bout against T.C. Roberson (Asheville, NC)

Next up, the Spartans play the Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC) in a 3A/4A Northwestern bout, on Friday, January 12. South Caldwell will attempt to upgrade on its 9-5 season record. The Pioneers go into the bout with a 10-3 record after their 45-42 non-league win over North Wilkes (Hays, NC).
