Pass Christian Pirates (Pass Christian, MS) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Poplarville Hornets (Poplarville, MS), 53-36 in a league bout.

With the win, Pass Christian upgrades its record to 7-11 on the season. The Pirates host Moss Point (Moss Point, MS) to play the Tigers in a 4A Region 8 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Tigers go into the bout with a record of 10-10. Moss Point lost 41-25 in their recent non-league bout against St. Martin (Ocean Springs, MS)

Next up, the Hornets play the Greene County Wildcats (Leakesville, MS) in a 4A Region 8 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Poplarville will attempt to upgrade on its 10-8 season record. The Wildcats go into the bout with a 11-11 record after their 44-31 league loss to Bay (Bay St. Louis, MS).
