Texas High School Basketball - Canyon can't hold off Smithson Valley

The Smithson Valley Rangers basketball team scored 71 points and held the visiting Canyon Cougars to 64 in the Rangers league triumph on Friday.

The Rangers now sport a 3-14 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Boerne-Champion for a 5A Region IV District 26 contest on Tuesday, January 10. Smithson Valley will battle a Chargers team coming off a 54-47 league win over Pieper (San Antonio, TX). The Chargers record now stands at 21-1.

The Cougars (6-18) will now prepare for their contest against Seguin (Seguin, TX). The Matadors enter the 5A Region IV District 26 contest with a 14-7 record. In their last contest, Seguin was nudged by Veterans Memorial (San Antonio, TX), 67-56, in a league contest.
