McGuffey Highlanders (Claysville, PA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Charleroi Cougars (Charleroi, PA), 59-38 in a league bout.

With the win, McGuffey upgrades its record to 8-5 on the season. The Highlanders host Brownsville (Brownsville, PA) to play the Falcons in a WPIAL 3A 4 bout on Tuesday, January 10. The Falcons go into the bout with a record of 7-2. Brownsville won 49-37 in their recent league bout against Mt. Pleasant (Mt. Pleasant, PA)

Next up, the Cougars play the Bethlehem Center Bulldogs (Fredericktown, PA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 10. Charleroi will attempt to upgrade on its 5-8 season record. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a 1-10 record after their 68-50 league loss to Burgettstown (Burgettstown, PA).
