The Chautauqua Lake Thunderbirds (Mayville, NY) basketball nipped the visiting Silver Creek Black Knights (Silver Creek, NY), 44-39 in Friday's non-league test.

The Thunderbirds (3-6) will now prepare for their test against Westfield (Westfield, NY). The Wolverines go into the Section 6 Chautauqua/Cattaraugus - II West test with a 6-4 record. In their last test, Westfield got by Brocton (Brocton, NY), 62-30, in a league test.

The Black Knights now own a 6-3 record. They play next when they travel to Cassadaga Valley for a Section 6 Chautauqua/Cattaraugus - I East test on Tuesday, January 10. Silver Creek will encounter a Cougars squad coming off a 67-38 league loss to Frewsburg (Frewsburg, NY). The Cougars record now stands at 4-7.
